My Story
MEET KARIMI
Hi I'm Karimi! Here's a little about me and how my takeaway shop in rural South Australia, came to be.

My story began in Kenya, where I was born and raised. I always had a passion for cooking and after high school this led me to pursue culinary school as a pastry chef. After schooling, I had the opportunity to work at some of Nairobi's largest hotels and grew to love all types of cuisines. But i always dreamed of having a business of my own.
It was in the late 2000s that I applied for the opportunity to migrate to Adelaide as a chef under the skilled migrant program! and a couple of years in, I met my wonderful husband and we settled in the tiny country town of Alford on the Yorke Peninsula with our 4 kids - blink, and you might miss it!

It was here that Karimi's Kitchen was born. I wanted to share my love for Kenyan cuisine with my community, while also
incorporating my newfound love for classic Aussie comfort food.
So after years of hard work, my dream of owning my own business came true. A dream I couldn't have achieved without my trust and faith in God and the support of not just my family but also the local community here on the Yorke Peninsula.
So come visit the shop or let us cater your next event.
As we say in Swahili, Karibu — Welcome!
